Day 56
Exodus 37-38
(37 | 38)
This passage describes the construction of more of what God ordered built.
As I've mentioned before, I find this a little boring to read. There's little going on, and the language is very repetitive. All this makes what actually happens even more amazing!
Moses relayed God's instructions, and the people just got on with it; they offered all the materials needed complete the task, and then a bit more just for good measure, and the people tasked with construction just got on with it. The obedience is incredible!
Mark 8:14-21
(8:14-21)
Jesus warns the disciples about the yeast of the Pharisees. At first, the disciples think this is a passive-aggressive jibe at their forgetting to bring bread with them. Jesus soon sets them straight without really explaining what he actually meant.
Jesus then heals a blind man. On this occasion, it takes Jesus two attempts for the man to be fully healed, which is an encouragement for us to keep trying if our prayers for healing go unanswered.
I love Peter. Peter's heart is in the right place, and he tries very hard, and as we saw when the same story is told in Matthew, Peter goes from getting it right to getting it spectacularly wrong in a very short space of time; first Peter declares that Jesus is the Christ, before rebuking Jesus in the next breath for predicting his own death. Jesus rebukes Peter right back, telling him he's only looking at the situation from man's perspective, not from God's. Peter, not being God, couldn't possibly have known God's full purpose for Jesus at that time.
Proverbs 6:1-11
(6:1-11)
This proverb warns against laziness. It also advises how to get out of situations you've been tricked into.
